Great hole in the wall spot if you're craving authentic Chinese food! My cantonese grandparents are very particular about Chinese restaurants when they eat out but they have nothing but great things to say about top cafe. The food is delicious and generously portioned, food is cheap, what else could you ask for! The servers are very kind and attentive as well, always offering to move unfinished dishes to smaller plates so we could have more table space and helping us pack up our food at the end. Don't expect anything fancy when you walk in. Just sit back and enjoy what tastes like a home cooked meal!

This is old fashioned Cantonese restaurant. It has plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. It gets busy at night and on the weekends . Weekdays are quiet and easy to find a seat . Their menu has one in HK style " western food " like lemon ice tea , hot HK milk tea , baked pork chop with red sauce over rice , baked white sauce seafood rice , steaks , fried wings , etc . Another men is the classic Cantonese dishes . I have the stored fried chicken with large bok choy with rice today . Lots of tender chicken , mild gravy with slices of ginger . Bok choy is in season now so it is very sweet and tasty . The price is good and inexpensive in that area . Inside decoration is kind of old and some are worn out . It is kept clean even it looks old . I enjoy the service ( helpful and efficient) , wide selection of foods ( dessert and shaved ice ) . No need to wait for long line and it opens until 1am in the morning . One of my choice to come if I get off the plane late in San Jose airport.

I've been here countless times in the past decade+ and it's a good go-to spot for Cantonese comfort food. And an extra plus that they are open late! The most recent time, we got fried chicken wings, Singapore style chow fun, spaghetti bolognese, and baked pork chop with rice. Fried chicken wings were great as always. Piping hot and super crispy on the outside. Singapore style chow fun was standard. Spaghetti bolognese is usually my go-to and it hit the spot as always. Something about it is very familiar, hearty, and comforting to me. Baked pork chop with rice was ok - pork can be a bit tough and there isn't enough sauce to go with the rice underneath.

Sunday afternoon for lunch and this Hong Kong style cafe was just what we wanted. Beef stew and vegetables with pan fried noodles, Singapore style chow fun, and eggplant with pork and garlic over rice. Just enough for four of us. This place is no frills but the food was amazing. Lots of choices here.

If you were to categorize a late night spot when you're tired and hungry (or a bit intoxicated), this is what comes to mind for me. They're open late and I've been coming here intermittently for years and their quality is about the same as I remember. It's a pretty Asian place, so don't expect it to be clean or service to be really attentive. But the food is really filling. I like the beef chow fun a lot, and also the century egg ground pork porridge is good as well. I saw some people eating their baked seafood dish so I'm pretty excited to try that as well. The quantity of food is also very large, so you definitely feel like you're getting your value. It's not the cleanest nor the most welcoming, but sometimes you just want to eat at a place that will consistently deliver the same product. And really for me, this is the place.

Top Cafe is one of our go-to places in Cupertino for Cantonese style comfort food. We usually order food to-go and rarely eat in the restaurant. Our last visit was a to-go order on a Sunday night. Noticed the restaurant was pretty crowded, so that was good to see them hopping - we don't like losing good local restaurants! Our order was from the 3-item family dinner menu (now $38.50 including house soup, not $28.95 or $35.95 as shown in some older photos/websites). We also added on a few favorites that aren't featured on the 3-item menu. From the 3-item menu we ordered: beef with Chinese broccoli, fish fillet with fried tofu in hot pot, and curry chicken. Separately we ordered salt & pepper fried chicken wings, and beef chow fun (dry style). All were delicious! Removing one star for portion size, which felt smaller than in the past.

If you need a late night meal, this is your spot! Wandered in around 11:30 PM on a Saturday and the spot was still crackin. Their menu is so big, so a bit overwhelming, but I gotchu. If nothing else, order the beef chow fun, honey walnut shrimp, and the baked pork chop. You're welcome. The beef chow fun was giving everything it needed to. The silky wide noodles weren't too broken up, had a good mix of bean sprouts and green onion, and the beef was super tender. Mix in some sriracha/chili oil from the table and I could eat this whole plate myself. The honey walnut shrimp were really good, especially paired with the chow fun. They ran out of walnuts so they asked us if cashews were fine. They just threw a handful of dry salted nuts onto the plate, and I gotta say I did miss the walnuts, but I'm glad we still got that crunch factor with the cashews. The shrimp were plump and juicy, lightly battered, and tossed in a wonderfully sweet and creamy sauce. YUM. You can not go to a HK cafe and not get a baked something.. so we went with the baked pork chop over rice and it did not disappoint! This dish does take some time to prepare so if you're really hungry, it may be a wait. We had already finished our two other dishes before this one came out but lemme tell you, it was so good and comforting, we ate the whole thing lol It's like egg fried rice, topped with a thin, tender cut of pork chop, smothered in a tomato sauce that is slightly sweet and savory. The pork chop was cooked so well, it could be cut with a spoon. It's a really thin piece of meat though, so I do wish there was more of the pork chop and more of the sauce, but regardless, it hits the spot. I don't live locally, otherwise this place would def be in my late night rotation. Maybe that's a good thing cause I promise you, I'd probably be here a few times a month. It's THAT good. The parking lot is spacious, the restaurant has hella tables and chairs, but don't expect great service or cleanliness. Yes, the tables can be a little sticky, but sometimes, that's part of the experience. You order and pay at the counter, find the cleanest table you can, they bring you the food and drinks, and then you leave. Simple!

Initially you probably think that Top Cafe is not the kind of place you'd willingly bring a date. You walk in, and it's kind of like stepping into a gas station, complete with the harsh fluorescent lighting that legitimately makes your eyes hurt. The service is as warm and welcoming as a DMV clerk on a Monday morning. You get the feeling the staff would rather be anywhere else, and honestly, at first glance, you kind of feel for them. But all the above is actually part of the charm. It's almost like a "it's so bad it's good" type of charm. After a few drinks (5 to be precise) at a nearby bar, this place becomes a gem that we look forward to visiting every time we come home. Don't quote me on this but I feel like there are hundreds of items to pick from. No matter what you're in the mood for, there's something you'll love! It's like the kitchen knows exactly what you need when you've had a bit too much to drink. The greasy, carb-loaded dishes become life-saving, like they were crafted specifically for that perfect level of drunkenness. I got an egg drop soup which was scalding, but delicious. I did actually burn my tongue but that's probably on me because I was drunk and probably impatient. I also got the salt and pepper ribs and that was excellent! Couldn't have asked for a better meal. Would definitely get this again. It is an actual tradition to come eat here after a night out. It's terrible but in the best possible way.
